How is Layoutish different from window snapping tools?
Most tools like Magnet or Rectangle focus on snapping windows to predefined positions. Layoutish saves your complete workspace—all open apps, their exact positions, and which monitor they're on—and restores everything with one click.
Does it open apps that aren't running?
Yes! When you restore a layout, Layoutish automatically launches any apps that aren't currently running and positions them exactly where they should be.
What happens when I dock/undock my laptop?
Layoutish handles monitor changes gracefully. It detects your current display configuration and adjusts layouts intelligently when you switch between setups.
Can I use keyboard shortcuts?
Absolutely. Assign global hotkeys to any layout for instant switching. There's also a quick switcher overlay (⌘+Shift+L) to browse and apply layouts.
Will my layouts sync across Macs?
iCloud sync is planned for version 1.2. For now, layouts are stored locally on your Mac.
What macOS version is required?
Layoutish requires macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later. It uses modern macOS APIs for reliable window management.
