Security that stays out of your way

Powerful protection with a minimal footprint.

Touch ID & Face ID

Protect any app with biometric authentication. One touch to unlock—fast, secure, and seamless.

Auto-Lock on Idle

Set per-app idle timeouts. When you step away, your apps automatically lock themselves after the time you choose.

Sleep & Lock Protection

All protected apps automatically re-lock when your Mac sleeps or the screen locks. Always secure when you walk away.

Protect Unlimited Apps

Lock as many apps as you want. Each app has independent unlock state and idle timer settings.

Quit Protection

Lockish itself requires Touch ID to quit. No one can bypass your protection by simply closing the app.

No Screen Recording

Unlike competitors, Lockish doesn't need Screen Recording permission. Your privacy stays intact.

Key Difference

Lock the app, not your screen

Other app lockers take over your entire screen when you try to open a protected app—blocking everything until you authenticate. That's disruptive and annoying.

Lockish only locks the specific app window. You can keep working in other apps while the protected app waits for your Touch ID. Seamless, non-intrusive security.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Lockish.

How is Lockish different from other app lockers?

Most app lockers take over your entire screen when you try to open a protected app, blocking everything until you authenticate. Lockish only locks the specific app window—you can keep working in other apps while the protected app waits for Touch ID. It's much less disruptive.

What authentication methods does Lockish support?

Lockish supports Touch ID, Face ID (on supported Macs), and your device passcode as a fallback. It uses Apple's native LocalAuthentication framework for maximum security.

Does Lockish need Screen Recording permission?

No! Unlike many similar apps, Lockish does NOT require Screen Recording permission. It uses Accessibility APIs for window tracking only, keeping your privacy intact.

What happens when my Mac goes to sleep?

All protected apps automatically re-lock when your Mac sleeps or the screen locks. When you wake your Mac, you'll need to authenticate again to access them.

Can someone just quit Lockish to bypass protection?

No. Lockish requires Touch ID authentication to quit the app itself. This prevents anyone from simply closing Lockish to access your protected apps.

How does the idle timeout work?

You can set a per-app idle timeout (1-60 minutes). Lockish tracks keyboard and mouse activity for each app independently. When the timeout is reached, the app is minimized and re-locked.

Does Lockish collect any data?

Absolutely not. Lockish runs entirely on your Mac with no data collection, no analytics, and no account required. Your protected apps and settings never leave your device.
