Introduction

Appish ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy covers two separate things: our Mac applications (Soundish, Lockish, Layoutish, Dockish and Time Zoneish), and this website, appish.app. The apps and the website are held to different standards, and we say exactly what each one does below.

The Apps: Information We Collect

Our applications do not collect any personal information or usage data. They are designed to work entirely on your Mac and do not send any data to our servers. The apps contain no analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking and no other form of data collection. Your privacy inside the apps is absolute.

Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Personal files or documents
  • Audio content or recordings (Soundish)
  • Passwords or authentication data (Lockish)
  • Window layouts or window contents (Layoutish, Dockish)
  • Browsing history or personal communications

Data Storage

All app preferences and settings are stored locally on your Mac and never leave your device. We do not operate any servers that collect or store data from the apps. License verification is handled securely through our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy, at the time of purchase only.

The Website: Analytics

appish.app uses analytics so we can see which pages are read, what people look for, and where the site is confusing or broken. We use PostHog, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt), in cookieless mode, and Umami, a cookieless web analytics tool. In practice that means:

  • No cookies and no local storage are set by our analytics, so there is no cookie banner and nothing follows you between visits.
  • Your IP address is not stored. It is used once, transiently, to compute an anonymous visitor hash that changes every day, then discarded.
  • We record which pages you view, what you click, how far you scroll, the site that referred you, your browser, device type, operating system and screen size, page performance metrics, and JavaScript errors.
  • We record anonymous session replays of how the site is used. Everything you type into a form is masked before it is recorded; we never see the contents of the email field.
  • If you answer one of our short on-site surveys, we store your answers. They are anonymous unless you choose to include your contact details in a free-text answer.
  • Analytics requests go to our own domain first and are relayed to PostHog from our servers.

None of this identifies you as a person, and none of it exists inside the apps. If you use a content blocker that blocks analytics scripts, the analytics simply do not load, and nothing else on the site depends on them.

Trials and Purchases

When you start a free trial, you give us your email address so we can send the download link. We store it in Klaviyo (our email provider) together with which app you tried, and we email you only during your trial and when something ships (new apps, major updates). Every email has a one-click unsubscribe. When you buy an app, Lemon Squeezy processes the payment and shares your email, order and license details with us so we can support you. For analytics, we also record that a trial started and that a purchase happened against a one-way hash of your email, so we can tell how many trials turn into purchases. The hash cannot be turned back into your address, and PostHog never receives your email itself.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Lemon Squeezy - Payment processing and license management
  • Klaviyo - Trial download emails and product update emails
  • PostHog (EU) - Website analytics, session replay and surveys, cookieless
  • Umami - Cookieless website analytics
  • Vercel - Website hosting

These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

Your Rights

The apps collect no personal data, so there is nothing from them for us to provide, modify or delete. Website analytics are anonymous and cannot be traced back to you. If you have started a trial or bought an app, we hold your email address and order history; email us and we will show you what we have, correct it, or delete it, including the hashed analytics record.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data. Our apps use macOS security features including Keychain for sensitive data storage (Lockish) and sandboxing where applicable.

Children's Privacy

Our applications are not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
