Dockish 1.2.6: your Dock, as you had it

Dockish 1.2.6 puts your macOS Dock back exactly as you had it when you quit, adds Preview Size and Transparency, which customers asked for, and makes window previews better.

Appish·

Dockish 1.2.6 comes out of two weeks of testing on macOS 27, on one screen and on three through a dock, with the lid closed, and through sleep and wake. Two of its new features came straight from your emails. It's part of the biggest update I've ever shipped.

To update, click Dockish's icon in the menu bar, open Settings and click Check for Updates.

Your macOS Dock comes back as you had it

Quitting Dockish now puts your macOS Dock back exactly as you had it, auto-hide included. So does Restore macOS Dock in Dockish Settings. Before, Restore turned auto-hide off even if you'd been using it, and quitting left the macOS Dock hidden.

If an earlier Dockish left your macOS Dock hidden, quitting this version shows it again, instead of leaving you with no dock.

Two features you asked for

Preview Size. Make window previews smaller or bigger on each display, from 50% to 300%. A customer with displays of different resolutions asked for this one.

Transparency. Make the dock's background more see-through. It sits right next to Theme. Also a customer's request.

Better window previews

Window previews now show all of an app's windows, not just six: the thumbnails shrink to fit, and a last one shows any more. A small window's preview fills its thumbnail instead of sitting in one corner, and hovers no longer get missed.

A preview now closes when the pointer leaves it on the side away from the dock. And with a short Preview Delay, a preview no longer closes a moment after it opens when you move off the dock and back onto another icon.

A steadier dock

  • A damaged settings file no longer resets your dock. Dockish keeps everything it can read, and saves a copy of the file first.
  • Magnification glides across dividers and spacers without jumps, and wakes from a still pointer without a stutter.
  • Side docks no longer shuffle their icons when an app opens or quits, and a launching app's icon bounces away from the edge.
  • Profiles in Independent mode keep each display's own dock, and plugging a monitor back in no longer undoes the changes you made since.
  • Two identical monitors get numbered names in the Displays tab, so you can tell them apart.
  • An app or a folder dragged from Finder onto Dockish's Trash goes to the Trash, instead of being pinned.

Help in Settings

Settings now has Help: Check Dockish tells you what's working and how to fix what isn't, Export Diagnostics makes a file for support, and What macOS Allows explains the limits macOS sets for apps that aren't Apple's. Help on the Website opens the full Dockish guide.

If the menu bar icon is hidden, open Dockish again from Finder or Spotlight and its settings appear.

Your licence now works on 3 Macs

You asked for this, so your Dockish licence now works on up to 3 of your own Macs. There's nothing to do: your key already has the extra Macs. A licensed Dockish also confirms its licence once a day now, so it stays licensed when your Mac restarts without a network connection.
