Soundish 1.5.3: Help, and a round of fixes

Soundish 1.5.3 makes routing steadier, keeps saved volumes, recovers by itself when macOS restarts its audio, lets idle speakers rest and adds Help to Settings.

Appish·

Soundish 1.5.3 comes out of nearly two weeks of testing on macOS 27: docks, sleep and wake, Bluetooth headphones, apps whose sound keeps restarting, and long runs overnight. It's mostly fixes, and a few of them matter a lot day to day. It's part of the biggest update I've ever shipped.

To update, open Soundish's Settings and choose Check for Updates.

Steadier routing

Apps on System Default follow your Mac. When you switch your Mac's output, to AirPods say, the apps set to System Default now go with it.

An output you pick yourself stays. If you choose an output yourself, in Control Centre or in Soundish, it stays the default until a device connects or the one you picked goes away. Then your device rules apply again.

You can see what you chose. An app's output menu ticks the output you chose for it.

Saved volumes stick

An app that starts playing after Soundish has started gets its saved volume at once. Before, it could play at full volume until you opened Soundish's menu.

Chrome, Slack, Discord and other apps built the same way stay under Soundish's control when their sound restarts.

Profiles reach apps that aren't running yet and devices that are switched off, and Update keeps them. One damaged saved setting no longer empties a whole list.

It looks after itself

If macOS restarts its audio system, Soundish sets every app up again on its own. You no longer have to reopen it.

A crash when your Mac woke from sleep with a dock attached is fixed. So is a problem with the optional mode where the volume keys control the app you're using: the keys can no longer hold up your Mac's clicks and typing.

Easier on your Mac

Speakers and wired headphones rest when the apps playing to them stop, and Soundish no longer keeps your Mac awake after they do.

A Max box for each output

Each output with a volume slider now has a Max box at its end, to set that device's maximum volume.

When the trial ends

When a trial ends, every app plays normally again. Your saved settings are kept, and a licence key brings them back.

Help in Settings

Settings now has Help: Check Soundish tells you what needs your attention, Export Diagnostics makes a file for support, and Email Support reaches me at hello@appish.app. Help on the Website opens the full Soundish guide.

Opening Soundish again from Finder or Spotlight shows a small window with everything in its menu, so Settings and Quit stay in reach even when the menu bar icon is hidden.

Your licence now works on 3 Macs

You asked for this, so your Soundish licence now works on up to 3 of your own Macs. There's nothing to do: your key already has the extra Macs.
